Alyssa Swatkowski, LCSW
Owner/Operator
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and graduate of the University at Buffalo’s Master of Social Work program, with over ten years of experience in community mental health. My path into this work was shaped by seeing how deeply unresolved trauma can impact individuals, relationships, and even carry across generations, something that continues to guide my commitment to helping people heal at the root. For seven years, I provided direct clinical care, followed by three years in leadership roles supervising and mentoring therapists. While that experience broadened my clinical lens, my passion has always remained in working directly with clients. I specialize in supporting adults and couples navigating the impacts of childhood and sexual trauma. I am committed to offering an LGBTQ+ affirming space that honors all identities and diverse relationship structures.
My approach is direct, compassionate, and grounded in both education and evidence-based practice. I believe therapy should move beyond simply talking about the past, it should create meaningful, lasting change. I am trained in EMDR and continue to deepen my work through Brainspotting, approaches that help process trauma at its core rather than just its surface. Whether working with individuals or couples, my goal is to help you better understand patterns, strengthen connection, and reconnect with your own capacity for healing so you can move from survival toward greater autonomy, clarity, and self-trust.
Outside of my work as a therapist, I find restoration in nature and creative expression. I enjoy photography and gardening, both of which reflect my appreciation for growth, patience, and transformation. At home, my four cats keep life lighthearted, reminding me daily of the importance of rest and play. I bring this same sense of balance and authenticity into my work, supporting you in building a life that feels both grounded and expansive.
